Um novo documentário com duas horas de duração e participação de Bono, chamado 'Miracle Rising: South Africa', está sendo exibido no History Channel, e traz em sua trilha sonora uma inédita versão da canção "Breathe" do U2, conhecida como "Alternate Version", e que toca nos créditos finais do documentário.
Bono faz uma breve aparição no trailer de 30 segundos para o documentário e, de acordo com uma ficha de informação sobre o documentário, uma das músicas incluídas é "Breathe (Alternate Version)" do U2.
A produtora Michelle Sparkes disse: "Bono reescreveu as letras de "Breathe" para o álbum do U2, que inicialmente foi escrita sobre Nelson Mandela, e quando o entrevistei, ele perguntou se nós gostaríamos de usar esta versão inédita em nosso documentário. É claro, nós dissemos sim."
Na edição de luxo do álbum 'No Line On The Horizon', há uma página que mostra a letra desta versão alternativa de "Breathe", que é a versão que o U2 ensaiava na França em 2006, quando foram captados os áudios dos famosos Beach Clips.
Bono confirmou em entrevista no ano de 2009, que "Breathe" inicialmente foi inspirada por Nelson Mandela e ele escreveu sob sua perspectiva. A data que aparece na letra é o dia do aniversário de Mandela, 18 de Julho. Na versão original do álbum 'No Line On The Horizon', ele cita a data de 16 de junho.
